A Brief Guide to Facebook Newsfeed Advertising for Hotels

Facebook advertising can be a very beneficial channel for hotel marketers. The most appealing part of it is simply how targeted we can get. With other forms of online advertising, we’re limited to keywords or location.

We can target location, age, gender, interests, behavior, relationship status, education and the list goes on. This is a really great way to send very targeted messages to people, and the best part is that users can interact with ads by sharing them, liking them or commenting on them; it provides an opportunity for increased visibility.

Facebook offers a few different types of advertising options, namely Newsfeed and what they refer to as “Right Rail”, which is simply the small ads you see on the right hand side of your Facebook page. We don’t tend to do much with Right Rail since we much prefer Newsfeed; we feel the engagement and results are much, much better.

Setting up ads is fairly straightforward. You’ll first need to create a Facebook page for your hotel if you don’t already have one; you have to have a Facebook page in order to create ads because you’ll tie the ads to your page. Next you’ll want to head over to ad manager and create the actual ad. You’ll have to select what the goal of your ad should be (clicks to a website for instance) and then what type of ad you want. Be sure to upload a good image and select your targeting preferences.

As always, our digital marketing team here at O’Rourke can help you with all your digital marketing efforts!
