Evolution of Search: How Google’s Latest Search Update Affects Hoteliers

Google has many algorithms that help its search engine sort through the vast sea of websites. Some of these algorithms help eliminate websites that may not be relevant to Google searchers. After all, Google’s ultimate goal is to provide the most relevant search results for each and every search. We as digital marketers tend to be most concerned with these algorithms because they have the potential to wreak havoc on our client’s organic rankings.

Most recently, Google updated their “Panda” and “PayDay” algorithms. Panda tries to push down websites in the search results with low-quality content while PayDay tries to penalize websites that employ spammy linking tactics. We’ve known for a while that Google has been shifting its focus to high-quality content, and the newest update, Panda 4.0, seems to be the tipping point in an evolutionary shift in the way hoteliers need to think about SEO in general.

Quality content is more important than ever, and many of the SEO tactics that marketers have held onto for so long are in the rear-view mirror. The problem with these changes is that quality content requires a lot of time, something difficult to find these days! But we’ve solved that problem here at O’Rourke with our recently launched SearchPRO product.

SearchPRO is a product that makes it easy for hoteliers to get relevant and quality content on their websites with consistency. We here at O’Rourke do all the heavy lifting while you reap the benefits.
